01/05 The Sarojin to Bangkok
Alas it was time to say goodbye to The Sarojin. We checked out at 12 and hung around the resort pool reading books until our bus back to Bangkok. Got a lift into Khao Lak to catch the bus and while we were walking to the stop we witnessed two scooters collide and people wearing shorts and tshirts go sliding on the bitumen. Made me rethink the whole thongs and shorts on a scooter idea :P
We then left Khao Lak on the overnight bus and got some zzzz's.
02/05 Khao San Road Bangkok
We arrived in Bangkok and got a taxi to Khao San Road. We had a little trouble finding a room as it was 5am. We eventually found one and checked in and slept a bit more. After our sleep we headed out and about and did some cheap shopping, drank some beer and had a feed. We were only in Bangkok for one night so we had a farily big night at The Center Khao Sarn pub. We met 4 poms, Claire and her boyfriend and Scotty and his old man. We talked football for a while and drank beer in the sun. It felt lots hotter in Bangkok because of the humidity. It makes for getting drunk cheaper too. We drank there until well after dark. After we left The Center, we headed to some random bar that was just a bar on the street but it had people all sitting around listening to psy trance. Was a great atmosphere. After a few drinks there we headed back to the hostel for some sleep.
03/05 Khao San Road, Bangkok, Thailand
We checked out of our room and left our bags at the hostel and headed out to enjoy our last day in Thailand. We just wandered around and had food and drinks, then had another last thai massage before heading to the airport to embark on the next stage of our trip.
My favourite things about Thailand:
Cheap everything. Lush greenery in Phuket/Phi Phi. Temperature/weather. I didn't get out of shorts, singlet and thongs the entire time so my jumper and long pants are nice and clean still for Greece! Khao San Road day and night life. The food, yum yum - we only ate 3 western meals the entire time we were in Thailand, even for breakfast we had Thai meals.
My Dislikes/disappointments Thailand:
We couldn't afford to go to the Muay Thai Boxing. Didn't make it to Krabi. F*cking suit salesmen pretending they give a shit about my broken arm. Not being able to swim in Khao Lak. The fact that everything in Bangkok is made of concrete.
Steve's favourites Thailand:
Patong night life. Phi Phi Island swimming/snorkelling. Khao San Road.
Steve's disappointments/dislikes:
Not getting to elephant trek.
Other notes: You can't flush toilet paper. Most of the time you need to supply your own toilet paper and soap (hooray for waterless hand sanitiser). Some toilets you need to stand over.
Thai beers we tried were Tiger, Chang and Singha. There were 2 others but I can't remember the names.
