Athens, Greece 06/05

06 May

Today we got a nice sleep in and we got the bed as the Mexicans headed off to Santorini. We got up and had a cooked breakfast before heading to the net cafe to book all the flights we need to book, so we don't get slugged for last minute air fares - We looked at flying out of Greece but this weeks prices compared to later on was 70 Euros vs 160 Euros so that's why we decided too book the others now.

We also set our itinerary a bit better so we could get the best prices on our transport. For May we're aiming to go overland from Greece to Bulgaria (Sofia), Serbia (Belgrade), Hungary (Budapest) possibly Slovakia then the Czech Republic. Then from the Czech Republic we head into the main European countries starting with Germany in early June. Mid June we fly into the UK for Steve's Cousin's wedding. Then we fly to Barcelona and head to HTID for the week. We might head to Mallorca for my birthday depending how expensive it is to get a ferry out there. From there we head to Valencia where we have our next tatts booked in. Steve's still deciding on his design as the tatt guy doesn't do Asian ones anymore so he wants something Spanish. I'm getting a tribute to Dan. After that we fly to Holland for Sensation at the start of July and we may stay for Dance Valley but as we discovered when looking at hostels for Holland today it is very expensive. We booked our hostel for Holland today because we wanted somewhere close to the venue or the main station and I'd imagine it's a busy time for hostels. Even when we were mid booking one of the rooms we tried to book sold out, so we had to pick another. The rates seem to double on weekends, or maybe they up them for special events, but our mid week rate was 15 Euros and weekend was 30 Euros per person per night ($30 and $60 Au). So we spent a decent chunk of that weeks budget on flights and accomodation, so we might have to eat 2 minute noodles in Holland, unless we pick up a place for couch surfing.

3 hours later, we left the net cafe and went sight seeing, we wanted to revisit the cool little streets around the Acropolis. Lots of little tourist shops and cafes and cats. Unfortunately it's back to long pants and jumper today and a bit of rain too. Tonight we just have planned a home cooked lasagne and Greek and Italian wine at Giannis place as we have a very early start to get to the ferry out to Santorini tomorrow morning.
