Today was the day we landed a job. We had only really been seriously looking for a few days but we had offers from 3 places on this day. We decided on one near the border to Wales due to it's proximity to friends and family, plus being a live in job in the country meant we were less likely to blow all our hard earned cash.
We caught up with Max and Rhianna again and played darts whilst intoxicated. We drank there until about 2 in celebration, before headed home to sleep as we had some loose ends to tie up before our Saturday morning train to our new home in Ross-on-Wye. We wanted to have one night of party at a club called Sankey's in Manchester that weekend but the new boss was keen for us to start work ASAP so we grudgingly agreed to a Saturday morning train.
Friday August 14
Today was supposed to be Kiruna and Peta's housewarming at the house in Manchester, and ours too though we were only going to be there for a month. But we turned it into our farewell. We invited Dave and Lucy who were the Irish people we had met at Exit Festival. They came over but after not long we headed to our local pub, the Iguana. We were just going to have quiet drinks but in the end decided to head to their place for a mix afterwards as neither Steve or I had mixed a tune (outside of Ableton) for 4 months... One thing led to another and we were drunk again and it was late. We then headed to Lucy's place where a heap of people were up drinking, so we got sideways with them too. We met her pet snail and her pet guinea pig which was a rather nervous little creature, it bit Steve and drew blood. Before we knew it it was 4am and we had to go as we hadn't packed.
We left to go home in a taxi and pack for our train. By the time we'd packed we could sleep for half an hour. Steve was worried about missing the train but I was really keen on the idea of sleep.
Several hours later we woke up and Steve swore as we'd missed our train. His alarm hadn't gone off, or he'd turned it off in his sleep. I was worried what our new employers would think when we did a no show on our first day...
